Plans are firming up for the 19th Annual Good Neighbors Youth Camp in 2018.
Camp is July 15, 2018- July 20, 2018
The Workcamp provides an opportunity for high school youth groups to serve low-income families by repairing their homes. For the first 25 years of our history, Good Neighbors has our families and Southern Chester County, Pennsylvania. As of 2017 we have expanded to repair homes in northern New Castle County, Delaware. Our purpose is to honor and glorify God by providing an experience for teens to put their faith in action and to experience the growth enjoy that occurs as they give their lives in service to the Lord.
Avondale Presbyterian Church (APC) will again be our host. Up to 60 senior-high youth and their leaders will spend the week working alongside skilled Good Neighbors staff and volunteers to "Repair Homes and Restore Hope" for multiple low-income families in southern Chester County. Youth camp is always our busiest week of the year, and 2017 will be no exception. At the end of each workday, the teams will shower at the Kennett or Jennersville YMCA and return to APC for dinner. Each evening, our youth volunteers will gather for sharing of fun, fellowship and discipleship.

Good neighbors service local families in need by making their homes warmer, safer, dryer and healthier as an expression of our faith in Jesus Christ. Work is done throughout the year, mostly by adult volunteers. Good Neighbors will provide materials, the necessary tools, insurance, training, and on-site guidance. Avondale Presbyterian Church will be the host church for meals, evening programs, and overnight accommodations. In the past years the meals have been great with menus enjoyed by both youth and adults. The evening programs have led to significant spiritual growth for the youth that have attended in the past. While we will not be far from home, the Workcamp is designed to be a full, 24 hours a day, 6-day group experience as if we were 500 miles from home. Therefore, the expectation is that the participants are committing to being with the group the entire week (day and night) from Sunday afternoon, July 15, continuously to Friday evening, July 20, 2018.
Fees for participants to cover meals and non-project expenses will be about $200 per person.
